Dr. Jan Kolář, director of the Czech Space Office (CSO), delivered a lecture entitled “The Moon Becomes a Subject of New Space Competition”.
The lecture was delivered to students of the Space Security Course, part of the PSSI/Charles University’s Master’s Degree Program in International Security Studies, and broader public. The lecture was hosted by the American Center in Prague. Dr. Kolář discussed plans for human space exploration beyond the low Earth orbit, as well as the implications for international cooperation that such efforts require. He stressed the indispensability of countries’ cooperation in accomplishing such scientific endeavors and highlighted the role of commercial actors who may complement traditional actors in this domain.
