The Prague Security Studies Institute (PSSI) held its 7th Prague Space Security Conference since the inception of its Space Security Program in 2010. Entitled “Forging Strategic Partnerships in the Global Space Race”, it was held on 16-18 June 2024, in Prague, Czech Republic.
Under the auspices of the Czech Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defence, and Transport, the conference traditionally brought together some 200 distinguished speakers and participants from NATO and EU countries, Japan, and other partners.
The 7th Prague Space Security Conference built upon the previous gatherings with its focus on the connections among global space security, security-related economic and financial transactions, and proper space governance. It provided an updated overview of the fast-evolving counterspace dynamic, Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, China’s accelerating estrangement from the West, as well as private sector and NGO capabilities to help shape 21st-century space "rules of the road" and military strategies. It promised to provide greater clarity, candid assessments, and useful insights on the U.S.-China space race already well underway.
PSSI’s Space Security Conference series, launched in 2011, has become a leading high-level trilateral (i.e., Europe, U.S., and Japan) space security gathering. Six such international conferences have been convened to date, involving leading space policymakers, senior military and civil government officials, industry leaders, and distinguished NGO and academia representatives from Europe, the U.S., and Japan.
