Space Security: An EU Perspective (Online guest lecture)

The Prague Security Studies Institute hosted a public guest lecture with Dr. Regina Peldszus, Space Policy Officer at the European External Action Service, who delivered an online guest lecture entitled “Space Security: An EU Perspective” on Monday, April 24, 2023.

The lecture provided an overview of fundamental elements and developments of space security in the EU, including space threat response, space situational awareness, and recent strategic efforts in space security and defense.

 

 

Regina Peldszus Regina Peldszus, Ph.D., is a Policy Officer with a focus on Space Security with the European External Action Service (EEAS), Security & Defence Policy Directorate. She previously worked on Space Situational Awareness and international and interagency cooperation for Space Security at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs in Germany, and the German Space Agency at DLR, where she served as co-chair of the member state consortium implementing EU Space Surveillance & Tracking (EU SST) and developed horizon scanning studies at the intersection of space operations and security. Earlier she was a researcher with the European Space Agency’s Space Operation Centre, Special Projects Division, on resilience in flight control during critical mission phases, and with ESA’s astronaut centre on future systems. Regina’s background is space infrastructure from a foresight, complex systems, and design research perspective. She is a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics, a member of the IAF Committee on Space Traffic Management, and the IAF Space Security Committee.
