The Economic and Financial Dimensions of Russia’s War Against Ukraine
9 Mar 2022, 18:00 – 19:30 CET
The Prague Security Studies Institute organized a discussion with Roger W. Robinson Jr., PSSI Chairman and Co-Founder, entitled “The Economic and Financial Dimensions of Russia’s War Against Ukraine”. He reviewed economic and financial sanctions against Russia implemented to date, as well as those that could be brought to bear in the immediate period ahead.
As the NATO allies are largely restricted to economic, financial, diplomatic and political policy tools as well as the supply of weapon systems and logistic support, it is useful to review those economic and financial sanctions implemented to date as well as those that could be brought to the fight in the immediate period ahead. Among the prospective sanctions in the latter category are targeting Russia’s oil and gas sector and the presence of major Russian companies in the US and European capital markets. China’s role in serving as an axis partner of the Kremlin and source of support in helping Russia circumvent and offset allied sanctions against Russia will also be discussed.
